Selected 2010 CCAC Activities and Events:
CART for Florida Conference requested. CCAC Swat Action over five days, 200 emails. Will they include or exclude someone who needs it?
CART for Berlin Conference requested. Awaiting replies.
CCAC regularly reminded members to advocate for the extremely important “Equal Access to 21st Century Communications Act of 2010” (HR3101 and S. 3304). See COAT website for all information. And we did it!
CCAC is consultative, collaborative and active!
CCAC distributes the Waldo Presentation for Effective Advocacy to all Members. Confer with WA-CAP to create your state project for Communication Access.
CCAC “swat action” to assist a Member with hearing loss attend and fully participate in a professional conference. Included timely response with advocacy and education about inclusion of CART.
CCAC captioning advocacy project – Proposal for educational seminar and demonstration of CART for large national professional conference. Let us know if your group wants to learn more to do the same. This one happening in California this November, thanks to CCAC members and founders.
CCAC was one among many national groups signing the recent AAPR letter to the Department of Transportation for airline entertainment captioning.
CCAC sent a letter of support to the FCC for captioned telephones.
CCAC sent letters of support to state captioning projects in Maryland and in Kentucky (movie captioning, captioning of TV in public places).
CCAC learning about RCC – full captioning access for conference telephone calling. Why aren’t more states signing the contract for this? Talking to Maine currently. Will it be Sprint or Hamilton Relay who works with advocates?

CCAC is a ‘community of practice’ online – a working group with project facilitators, knowledge leaders, and a management circle. The CCAC is richly diverse, with consumers, providers, and others. More information is on the pages of the CCAC members only googlegroup.
CCAC supports established national and state groups doing captioning advocacy! CCAC offers new methods and energies (people) for those projects, as well as providing a collaborative culture where regular interactions (discussions) build knowledge for all. There is no other grass-roots community like the CCAC with one theme and an activist agenda.
