Caption political campaigns now: Speeches in person. on TV, on Web

April 20, 2011 § 1 Comment

Good government means informed citizens. All citizens! Running for office? Supporting your candidate? Want more facts and information instead of hype and phony claims? Be sure to demand that all public appearances and ads on tv and the internet by your candidate are fully captioned…quality captioning for all!

CCAC would be delighted to hear from you if you begin advocating for this. Please tell us via email or comment here. CCACaptioning@gmail.com. Thanks!

  • Kathy says:

    You know I am! 😉

I have just started to contact other local groups about this. Chris Balduc of Southwest Washington Center of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (SWCDHH) even wrote a letter to our county commissioner, encouraging for the elderly and the Deaf Community in our area (huge both) to provide equality of voting access by putting captions on CVTV videos and online.

He has a title, so he has clout. The commissioner passed the buck to CVTV manager to reply, and he still moans the costs involved, how little funding they have, and asked for information about grants and other alternatives to captions. UGH!

So, I still urge local Clark County residents and businessmen to flood our elected with protest of not having access by now with OUR tax money ready that should be used to provide captions. Also, tell others, write to the newspapers, post about the unfairness on your FB wall…etc. Get the word out, so words can go out to all through CAPTIONS!

What’s this?
