CCAC is starting to make a list of large national or international CONFERENCES that need live captioning on a screen for all to use. Please send us your suggestions soon!
We’re thinking of finding funds to help up to five conferences in 2015 – to pay for live captioning for their Plenary Session (the opening speakers, up to three hours).
There are SO MANY live events that need to use live captioning – from work meetings, classes, community events, medical appointments, and political debates (very important) to all sorts of conferences, conventions, and congresses.
CCAC has limited funds (donations always welcome http://ccacaptioning.org/donate/) and hopes to start with conferences – to do what we do best – educate, raise awareness, and advocate for inclusion of quality captioning universally. Captioning is our language.
We’re asking for suggestions outside of hearing loss, deaf, deafened and disability conferences please (those already routinely include live captioning).
Technology conferences “should” be including live captioning already also – so many advances in technology and well-funded sponsors for those conferences, so we’ll consider these, yet not with first priority.
