WHAT’S SO FUNNY ABOUT HEARING LOSS? (AND CAPTIONING)

March 25, 2016 Comments Off on WHAT’S SO FUNNY ABOUT HEARING LOSS? (AND CAPTIONING)

THERE ARE SO MANY JOKES ABOUT HEARING LOSS, RIGHT?

We love to laugh also, yet hearing loss is a serious experience. We can all talk about that – all the time! Yet this post invites your genuine FUNNY experiences please. Add them in a comment now. Or email to CCACaptioning@gmail.com.

We really need some good jokes or images that will help all of us keep on going. (Hopefully not offend anyone either. Let’s have a laugh at ourselves please from time to time!)

One experience is to be offered a wheelchair when we say we are deafened. What?! Is this funny or not? Have to keep laughing!

Another experience is to have someone immediately tell you something like, “Oh, my (very old) mother has a hearing loss too, haha, haha.”

Or, “Oh right, selective hearing, eh? haha.”

Those are not jokes! Anyone have a genuinely FUNNY experience? We can guess it’s the miscommunication ones like when a friend says something like “hey, let’s go get some ice cream” and we hear “hey, i feel like screaming”.

ANYONE HAVE A GOOD FUNNY JOKE ABOUT HEARING LOSS?

TELL US SOON!

In the past few days the CCAC is asked about
*Remote Captioning and,
* If we would do a Webinar for another organization and,
* If we will offer a workshop in the Spring and,
* If we could review the final draft of an important survey re captioning and,
* If  if we can help someone find captioning providers and…
More too! All that and the wonderful discussions inside the CCAC Members’ Forum online also.
Oh yes, busy every day to #captiontheworld  We are all volunteers, please join the CCAC soon!  Ask your friends and others to JOIN the CCAC – family? colleagues? social networks?

When will Facebook show CC for all videos?

March 6, 2016 § 1 Comment

Some videos, with Open Captions (OC) give us access to videos on Facebook. Others, don’t seem to have any captioning at all. Boo!

How many of you have tried to contact FB about this?

What more can we all do to find full equal communication access on social media that most of us use every day (too much – smile)?

Please volunteer soon!

LIVE EVENT CAPTIONING

March 3, 2016 Comments Off on LIVE EVENT CAPTIONING

IT WAS A NICE SURPRISE when eating supper with new friends yesterday to see them understand right away what CAPTIONING is!

LIVE EVENT CAPTIONING – have YOU ever used it? Seen it? Asked for it?

b9eb7-5ea6usq_ip_3nxketjt3zduu41ri41vqeyt-9waotdgx1lg7izcyg44vhpjya7sybhdsryyd9nnz37zk4wgyzjnotfsv-80vkyfp6gigg8hhal_f1_czb3ju5on9pczyv_pb8vbx0uw62nlpimxjfezblme9rc7opfonikr3j_pxjix9-jmetcjycbx4vvcexd

LIVE EVENT CAPTIONING can be used on your own individual mobile device (phone, tablet, laptop) or, ideally for many of us to help and teach many others at the same time, it can be shown on a large monitor or screen or blank wall.

As long as the professional provider has good AUDIO (sound connection one of several ways, e.g. Skype, Telephone, other), the provider does not have to be in the same room as the meeting, event, conference, consultation, dinner, whatever. They can do it “remotely” also, using Internet connections and “streaming” the LIVE SPEECH TO TEXT to the screen.

Yes, conferences ideally have the provider on-site – in the same place.

A large monitor is used these days in so many places – like a large TV screen on the wall (but not showing TV, showing the conversation at the meeting or event). Or if someone requires privacy and the service for inclusion is only for one person alone, it’s shown on the person’s mobile device.
